Can the ‘Science of EXECUTION’ make work easier?

10 Jun

Welcome to June, 2010. In this month, MRDC-YEN (Young Entrepreneurs Network) will be celebrating 12 months of successfully impacting young entrepreneurs in Nigeria.

To crown this celebration, a conference will be organized for young and aspiring entrepreneurs. This conference will launch participants to new levels of business success. The conference will teach you how to work SMART instead of  HARD through the POWER OF EXECUTION .  Come to think of it, could this make life or work  easier?

You know, I have heard people like Rwanda’s president, Paul Kagame affirm that ‘entrepreneurship is the surest way to development’ and support for this perspective is heading for the clouds. If this is true, why are our entrepreneurs (both practicing and potential) not really ‘progressing’ and why are their activities not really impacting our economy?  Could this be related to ‘failure to LAUNCH’ on the part of the potential entrepreneurs or is it due to the Country’s entrepreneurial climate or poor execution?  What’s your opinion? Do you think there’s something our young entrepreneurs are missing that if possessed would go a long way to change the face of entrepreneurship in the country or are there some undefiable factors that are suppressing their efforts? What could be wrong?

Let’s get talking. Please share your perspective?

Accurate Building Techniques

23 Apr

‘’Through wisdom a house, organization, company is built, and by understanding it is established, and by knowledge the chambers/house/company shall be filled with all precious and pleasant riches”

-          Proverb 24: 3-5

Everyone is one way or the other into building something, its either you are building a career, a business, an organization, a family or about to start building. In other words, you are engaged or about to be engaged in a choice of whatever you have chosen for yourself e.g. what to do and how?

If this is true, then you need to know what to do and how to do it accurately in order to bring increase. The pattern to building accurately is embedded in the above quotes- you need wisdom to build, understanding to establish and knowledge to attract and retain resources, riches, profit  and wealth(human and financial)

I believe everyone will want their business, company to be established and profitable. Then let us take these points one by one.

WISDOM: From the dictionary,

Wisdom is the ability to discern or judge what true, right or lasting insight is.

The quality or state of being, wise knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgments as to action sagacity, discernment or insight.

Wisdom is a deep understanding of people, things, events or situations resulting in the ability to choose or act to consistently produce the optimum result with a minimum of time and energy.

Wisdom is the ability to optimally (effectively and efficiently) apply perceptions and knowledge and to produce the desired results

Wisdom often requires the control of one’s emotional reactions (passions) so that one’s principles, reason and knowledge prevail to determines one’s actions

From these definitions of wisdom, we can see that wisdom gives us the ability to effectively and efficiently apply what we know and understand for maximum result.

If that is the case we then require three major things for us to operate in wisdom

  • Knowledge
  • Understanding
  • Solid character (control of emotion in order to act accurately)

The question then is- Do you have all of these embedded in you?
